Executive Director: Lynn James

Lynn has worked on behalf of fund development in support of Mission and Ministry in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church and other non-profit charitable fund raising in N.C. for the past 15 years. He is currently serving a two year term as Vice President of the National Association of United Methodist Foundations. Lynn is a graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute, The Planned Giving School (The General Board of Discipleship) and a member of the North Carolina and National Planned Giving Councils. He is actively involved in the N.C. Conference serving as member of the Methodist Home for Children/Methodist Orphanage Alumni Association and serves in an Ex-Officio capacity on the Board of Directors of the N.C. United Methodist Commission on Outdoor and Camping Ministries.

Planned Giving Director: Rev. Jim Mentzer, CLU, ChFC

Rev. James G. Mentzer, CLU, ChFC, currently serves as Director of Planned Giving for United Methodist Foundation, Inc. of Raleigh. In this capacity, he provides gift planning and endowment education through presentations at Conference, district, and local church events, as well as through one-on-one consultations. Jim is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Conference with twelve years of experience serving the local church. Since 1986, he has also worked as a financial planner. As part of his continuing commitment to education, Jim has earned both the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from the American College. Prior to entering ordained ministry, he worked for twenty years in both the public and private sectors. Jim received his B.A. in history from Allegheny College (Pennsylvania) in 1971, an M.A. in history from Duke University in 1972, his Masters of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in 1999, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He is married to Jo Ann Warren Mentzer, a retired registered nurse. They have three adult children and one grandson.
